Soni’s Abode is conceived as a personal expression of identity, a home where her Indian heritage and contemporary Californian living intersect. The design weaves together clean modern forms with culturally rooted details, with spaces that feel grounded yet transportive. Subtle references to traditional craftsmanship sit alongside modern corners, allowing the home to feel current while still deeply connected to her origin and personal story. The outcome is a cozy home that echoes the warmth of her homeland.
The Living Room
The living room overlooks the Californian coast through the windows, while the indoors blends layers of Indian richness. The space is filled with soft neutrals to highlight the vibrant cultural elements that dance on the walls. The striking wallpaper mural, Gardens of Jaipur, inspired by Indian art takes center stage with warm woods, tactile textiles and handcrafted accents that add depth and soul to balance the modern palette.
From ceramic vessels to layered rugs and intimate seating arrangements, the space brings a lived-in warmth and a deeply reflective narrative of a multicultural identity.
The Bedroom
The bedroom is a gentler, softer exploration of heritage. A hand-painted floral mural rises behind the bed like a modern interpretation of Indian garden motifs, bringing nature, nostalgia, and artistry into the room. Muted greens and calming blues create a serene backdrop, while layered bedding in earthy tones adds subtlety and a tactile warmth to the space.
Throughout the bedroom, little details such as wall-mounted vases, sculptural accents, a golden tea set and a marble tray form a personal sanctuary that weaves bits of the homeland to bring cultural detail to a home far away from home.
Conclusion
Soni's abode is shaped by memory, identity and modern life. Each room carries its own mood yet the home remains cohesive through a common theme of storytelling and culture. The styled residence stands as a reflection of a life that remembers the origin while evolving to a contemporary reflection of a life that lies ahead.
